Overview

This article will describe how to turn off biometrics or screen lock setting in the Okta Verify mobile app.

Environment

Okta Verify mobile app, Apple and Android mobile devices

Troubleshooting/Resolution

As biometrics (face ID, thumbprint) or screen lock can cause some issues signing in, we recommend turning it off for most people. Please follow the instructions below to disable this setting.

To turn off biometrics/screen lock in the Okta Verify App:

  1. Open the Okta Verify app on your mobile device
  2. Click on the account for mylogin.jmu.edu
  3. Under Security, toggle the tab left under Screen lock confirmation or Face ID Confirmation
  4. Select Yes, Turn Off
  5. On iPhone you will need to use Face ID, or your phone unlock Pin to turn off this function. On Android you may need to use your unlock Password/PIN/Pattern, or your Biometric method (Fingerprint, camera, etc.) used to sign into the phone.
