There is No Sound During Zoom Meeting

Overview

Environment

Zoom client-side app

Troubleshooting/Resolution

Prior to following the steps below, ensure that your Zoom Client is current and does not require updates by opening the client and clicking on your icon in the top-right and selecting Check for Updates. Once your update completes (or if your client is current,) then proceed to the following:

Check the settings of the Zoom app:

  1. Sign into the Zoom app.
  2. In the upper right of the Zoom window, click on Settings (the little gear icon).
  3. In the left-hand menu list, click on Audio.
  4. On the right under Speaker, click the drop down arrow and choose a different speaker.
  5. Click Test Speaker to confirm you can hear sound. Click the upper-right X to close the Settings window.

Update your audio drivers (Windows):

  1. Click the magnifying glass in the Windows Taskbar, and search for and open Dell Command Update
    1. If not listed, clear your search and instead search for and open Software Center
    2. Click Dell Command Update in the software list, and select install
  2. Select Check. This will scan your computer as well as any connected accessories for firmware and driver updates.
  3. Ensure that critical and recommended are checked, and select install
    1. Note: The installation process may take some time, and require one or more restarts. Be sure to save any files you are working on beforehand

Invite someone to a test Zoom meeting to make sure you can hear others now.
