Password Management

Overview

Passwords for most JMU services are synced up with your Okta account through Okta Single Sign-On (SSO). Therefore when your password is changed at mylogin.jmu.edu, or via the "Forgot Password" page found on any SSO enabled JMU sign on, the password will change for all of the pages that are also SSO enabled (MyMadison, Canvas, Outlook Email, Etc.) There are exceptions for certain passwords at JMU such as privileged access accounts such as Network Administrator accounts for example. Most people will not have to worry about these but for those who do can offer you support by submitting a Privileged Account Password Assistance ticket.

JMU faculty, staff, students, applicants, and affiliates

How can I get this Service?

Password management access, seeing as it is a critical part of the JMU sign-on process, is immediately granted upon creation and activation of a JMU account
