How do Request an Equipment Service Number (ESN)

Overview

Information on acquiring an Equipment Service Number (ESN) for a JMU-Owned Machine.

Troubleshooting/Resolution

Dell computers purchased from the JMU Dell Premier page come pre-tagged with a JMU Equipment Service Number (ESN).

All other devices (computers not ordered from the Dell Premier page, Apple Computers and printers) need to be tagged by Endpoint Services.

To request an asset tag

  1. Click the ESN Asset Tag Request button to the right of this page.
  2. The form will ask you some information about the computer such as Model Number, Serial Number, and Purchase Order information.
  3. Fill in the information.
  4. Click Submit at the bottom of the form.
