Notes:
- Student's ePAR needs to be submitted and completed prior for manager/supervisor to submit a faculty/staff email request for them.
- Graduate Assistants receive a faculty/staff email account automatically if the GA pay code is used. Otherwise, managers may request a fac/staff email account for a GA or for student employees that require an employee email account for their work.
To request a JMU fac/staff email account for a GA or a student employee:
- Open up a web browser to the IT Service Portal http://its.jmu.edu
- Click Request Help
- Click Communication and Collaboration > Email (Faculty/Staff) > Request a Fac/Staff Email Account for Student Employee
- The student employees’ manager should fill out the form. If the request is submitted by an Administrative Assistant, the assistant (submitter) should enter the manager’s eID and press the tab key to change “Submission is for” fields:
- When the eID of the student employee is entered, his/her EmplID will appear (if it exists), along with his/her name. If no EmplID appears the student is not appearing in HR as an employee yet.
- Each ticket can accommodate up to five student employees. If more than five are needed, the submitter can submit multiple tickets or attach a spreadsheet listing the student employees’ names, eID’s and Employee ID’s
- Final approval and implementation time varies depending upon high volume times, such as the start of school and the status of the student employee's role upon request.
