Learn why a warning has been added to emails sent from non-JMU email addresses.

Email Warning CAUTION: This email originated from outside of JMU. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe.

  • This warning was added due to the JMU community continuing to be the target of phishing attacks that attempt to steal money, data and login credentials.
  • This step was taken to remind us to be especially careful of messages originating from outside of JMU.
  • Messages between the JMU and Dukes (student) email systems will not have this warning included in the message.
  • To report any technology security or abuse incidents, email abuse@jmu.edu
