Overview
JMU provides email, calendaring, and contact management services to all Faculty, Staff, and Students. Email access for Affiliates, Emeriti, and Student Employees is provided at the request of a department or sponsor. This Microsoft 365 based email system can be accessed from a computer, web browser, or mobile client.
- Faculty/Staff/Affiliate/Emeriti email addresses end in @jmu.edu
- Student email addresses end in @dukes.jmu.edu
Log in at outlook.office.com, or at dukes.jmu.edu
In addition to providing individual email addresses, the following shared resources are available by request:
- Shared Mailboxes: A shared mailbox is a mailbox that multiple users can use to read and send email messages. Shared mailboxes also contain calendars. Messages sent from this mailbox will show the name of the mailbox, not the name of the individual sender.
- Shared Calendars: A shared calendar is a calendar that multiple users can use to schedule appointments.
- Resource Calendars: A shared calendar that has the ability to accept/decline meeting requests automatically. This is ideally suited for rooms, vehicles, or assets (ex. iPad carts for checkout) that need to be reserved, but the appointments don’t need to be monitored or accepted/declined individually.
- Distribution Lists: A specific email address, where emails sent to this address are distributed to all members of the group.
