Data Center Services

Overview

Data Center Services provide the core infrastructure platforms that support JMU’s enterprise systems, academic applications, and research environments. This service includes centralized identity services, server and storage platforms, networking components, and high‑performance computing resources hosted and managed by Information Technology. Data Center Services ensure systems are available, secure, scalable, and maintained in accordance with university standards. These services form the foundational layer that enables reliable operation of JMU’s technology ecosystem.

Who can use this Service?

JMU faculty, staff, and students, as well as prospective students to the University

How can I get this Service?

Access to certain systems may be requested and granted upon supervisor approval and training based off role(s) with the university. Other systems are automatically provided with access based on your role(s) with the university.

Service Offerings (10)

Active Directory
Provides centralized identity and access management for JMU systems and resources.
CSM Infrastructure Services
Provides infrastructure support for College of Science and Mathematics computing environments.
Data Center Switchport Configuration Change
Each switchport is configured to access the data center network in a specific way and requires a request to change them.
Data Center VLANs and Subnets
The JMU Data Centers are configured with VLANs and subnets to support performance and increase security.
Entra ID
Supports cloud‑based authentication and access for JMU applications and services.
General Restoration Requests
Request backup recovery or restoration of data stored in JMU systems.
HPC Cluster
Provides high‑performance computing resources for research and advanced analysis.
Server Build Request
Servers built and managed by IT include 24/7 monitoring, anti-virus and vulnerability management, and physical security.
Server Change Requests
Request approved changes to servers hosted in the JMU data center.
Server Decommission Request
When a server is no longer needed, please submit this request for its removal.
