Dell Laptop Encryption "Device is Locked"

Overview

This article describes what to do in the event your laptop shows the message "Device is Locked".

Troubleshooting/Resolution

Hands-on analysis of this issue is in order:

  1. Please bring your laptop to the IT Help Desk, 4th floor of the Student Success Center during operational hours
  2. Inform the IT Help Desk of this error message
  3. The laptop will need to be retained for diagnostics and analysis
