Overview
JMU Telecom provides Ethernet network data jacks in offices, classrooms, and other spaces across campus for accessing JMU’s wired data network. Please note, when moving into a new space, network data jack activation is required. For issues related to Ethernet network data jack activation, new Ethernet network data jack installation, damaged Ethernet network data jacks, or other issues with the physical Ethernet network data jacks, please email JMU Telecom or call (540) 568-6471.
How can I get this Service?
When submitting a request, the following information is required to ensure that service is provided both quickly and effectively:
- The Building Name, Room Number, and Jack Number of the Port you wish to have activated
- The Jack Number can be found at the top of the ports, typically labeled with the office number followed by an associated letter. (ex. Room 101 A)
- If this request is for using a Computer, Printer, or Phone •
- If the Port being activated will be used for Secure Data (HIPPA, FERPA, Credit Cards, etc.)
Please be aware that there may be costs to the department associated with these requests.
