JMU faculty and staff

How can I get this Service?

Those planning for a new technology solution/system must ensure the following prior to submitting a TSR:

  • There is no existing campus technology. The department must provide detailed justification for using a new technology where there is a similar campus solution already available.
  • There is funding in place (budget approval).
  • Director/Academic Unit Head (AUH) approval is obtained.

Departments should provide detail within the submitted TSR on the following:

  • Vendor name and contact Information
  • System name and description
  • Description of how the department will use the system
  • Data elements that will be processed and/or stored in the system
  • Users of the system (e.g., faculty, students, etc.)
  • The department's plan for managing user access
  • Identification of the System Owner and Primary System Administrator

Once the TSR is received, IT Policy & Compliance will work to facilitate the risk assessment process.

Quick-start FAQ's

Once the TSR is received, IT Policy and Compliance will work to facilitate the risk assessment process within IT. IT Policy and Compliance will work with the appropriate data manager(s), as needed, to evaluate the data management and other compliance requirements that may be associated with the system and apply a System Classification (0-4).
