Multi-Factor Authentication (Okta)

Overview

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an information security best practice that adds an extra measure of protection beyond your username and password. The technology uses something you physically possess (phone, tablet, or Yubikey) to verify your identity at login. This step prevents bad actors from accessing your account even when they may have guessed or stolen your password. JMU has implemented Okta as our MFA provider.
