Receiving a Mailbox is Full Message

Overview

Learn how to check how much storage you have used in your Email.

Now that our email in the cloud, users have a large quota (100 GB for faculty staff; 50 GB for Affiliates).  If your mailbox is over its quota, you will receive a notification email. If you receive a quota notification that asks for your password or other personal information, do not click any of the links or enter your information as this is a phishing email to obtain your credentials.

Troubleshooting/Resolution

Outlook for Windows or Web Browser (Mac & Windows)

  1. Open a web browser to outlook.office365.com and log in
  2. Click the gear icon in the upper right
  3. Click Accounts
  4. Click Storage
  5. Your Storage usage is detailed on the right hand side

To free up quota, delete any messages that are no longer needed to retain.

Additional Information or Notes

Note: junk and deleted items are included in your quota; however, the system automatically deletes Junk email 15 days after it is received, and removes messages in Deleted Items 30 days after they are deleted.
