Troubleshooting/Resolution
Often when a bookmark is created, it saves the URL as well as a large amount of unintended pathing or query data. This can cause unintended results as this bookmark is continually used over time, so simplifying the bookmark to just the necessary site can help to reduce these problems.
Google Chrome:
- Right-click the bookmark in your bookmark bar
- Click Edit
- Highlight the Web Address/URL and delete it
- Type the direct address for the site you are attempting to navigate to (https://mymadison.jmu.edu/ , https://outlook.office.com/ , etc.)
- Click Save
Mozilla Firefox:
- Right-click the bookmark in your bookmark bar.
- Click Edit Bookmark
- Under URL, highlight the Web Address/URL and delete it
- Type the direct address for the site you are attempting to navigate to (https://mymadison.jmu.edu/ , https://outlook.office.com/ , etc.)
- Click Save
Microsoft Edge:
- Click the star with three lines in it to access your favorites bar (Microsoft's version of bookmarks)
- Right-click your bookmark and select Edit
- Highlight the Web Address/URL and delete it
- Type the direct address for the site you are attempting to navigate to (https://mymadison.jmu.edu/ , https://outlook.office.com/ , etc.)
- Click Save
