Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 10 Enterprise on October 10, 2025. After this date, Microsoft will no longer deploy security updates to Windows 10, leaving the operating system vulnerable.
While JMU is working to upgrade existing computers to Windows 11, some hardware does not meet the minimum operating requirements in order to run Windows 11. To better assist areas in determining what devices may not meet the minimum requirements, a notification will begin to appear on devices similar to those reminding you of required Software Updates:
We encourage you to work with a Technology Coordinator or contact the JMU IT Help Desk if your computer's ESN starts with the number 18 or lower as it will likely need to be replaced.
Information Technology will begin upgrading all eligible computers to Windows 11 in January 2025, and we recommend that all incompatible machines are replaced by June 2025.
