How to Use the Testing Center Scanners

Body

For ease of use and to provide an alternative or quicker option to scan large quantities of Gradescope Bubble Sheets, scanners have been provided and set up at the Gabbin Assessment & Testing Center (available Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm), provided by JMU Libraries. To use the scanners:

  • You will log into the connected computer with your full JMU email.
  • Upon logging in, you should expect to see the Epson Scanner software automatically appear. This must remain open and active for the scanner to acurately scan your tests. The software is already set with the approperiate settings for scanning Gradescope Bubble Sheets, and will not need additional adjustments.
    • Note: In the event that the software does not open or is accidentially closed, you can re-open it by clicking the Application pinned on the Task Bar
  • Load your Gradescope Bubble Sheets into the scanner face-down (The orientation does not matter) and click Scan on the Epson Scanner Software.
  • Once scanning has completed, the files will be saved as a PDF to the Documents Folder, which will open automatically when complete.
    • Note: The name of the PDF will be random and can be renamed to your preference by right-clicking on the PDF and clicking Rename

Once you have scanned your files, make sure to collect all your Bubble Sheets and upload your completed PDF directly to Canvas, OneDrive, or email them to yourself by using one of the web browsers on the Desktop. The computers will not allow USB devices (outside of Okta Yubikeys) or access to the N: Drive.

Be aware that once you have signed out of the computer, all records that were saved are deleted permanently.
