A JMU-owned computer - regardless of it being a PC or an Apple device - that is setup and imaged by IT's Endpoint Services team will automaically receive Windows, Apple, and JMU policy updates while it is connected to the network on-campus and is on. If the device is off or is off-campus, it will attempt to connect to our update servers automatically once you sign into the machine (for Apple devices it may require you to connect to the JMU VPN (Global Protect), depending on the type of update).
If your device is unable to update while remote, once it returns to campus and is connected to either the wired or wireless network, it will then begin to update those missed or delayed policies.
Please note that while you do not need to be logged in to receive the update, you may be prompted when logging into restart or finalize an update once signed in.
