For Gradescope to read your Bubble Sheets, the file will need to be in a .PDF format. Most JMU-Owned printers and JMU Leased printers have the ability to scan to email, which converts the scanned attachment as PDF aautomatically, and there is available scanners for use at the Gabbin Assessment & Testing Center if your department does not have one readily available. However, if your files were scanned in a way which caused them to not be a PDF, there are some steps that will need to be taken to ensure the file you are attempting to upload to Gradescope can be correctly used.
While the tests are able to be "scanned" by a users phone, file conversion will need to be completed before being able to be uploaded within Gradescope. Below are instructions on how to convert a file to .pdf on both Mac and Windows, uploaded from an Apple or Android mobile device.
To convert a file from a macOS device:

- Once Preview has opened, at the top of the screen in the Menu Bar, click File.
- Within the dropd-own menu, select Export as PDF...

It is recommended that if you are attempting to upload an image from your mobile device that you use an application such as Microsoft Lens: PDF Scanner
