How to download and install Microsoft Teams for Windows and Mac

Note:  Faculty and staff may also download the Teams client from Software Center on managed, JMU-owned Windows computers, or JMU Self Service on managed, JMU-owned Macs.

Windows 10+

  1. Go to this link https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/microsoft-teams/download-app
  2. Click Download for Desktop
  3. Click Download Teams
  4. Make sure the installer is saving to Downloads
  5. Open up the Downloads folder and double-click the installer
  6. Follow the steps on the screen to install the app

MacOS

  1. Open a web browser to: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/microsoft-teams/download-app
  2. Click Download for Desktop
  3. Click Download Teams
  4. Make sure the installer is saving to Downloads
  5. Open up the Downloads folder and double-click the installer
  6. Follow the steps on the screen to install the app
  7. You may need to click and drag the MS Teams logo into the Applications folder. If so a menu will appear that makes this really easy, as it will only have the two icons in it. Once done allow MacOS to move the installer to the trash
