Overview
This article aims to provide instructions on how to manually install the Omnissa Horizon Client application on a computer. 
Environment
This may be needed if working remote or on campus when trying to access certain environments on a personal computer. 
Troubleshooting/Resolution
If you are attempting to install the Omnissa Horizon Client and/or GlobalProtect VPN on a JMU Owned machine, you can find the software available and pre-configured through either the Software Center (Windows) or through JMU Self Service (MacOS).
 
Install the Omnissa Horizon Client and log in to VDI on a Windows 10/11 computer
	- Go to JMU’s software downloads page and click Windows under the Omnissa Horizon Client option.
 
	- Sign in with your eID and password. Save the file if prompted.
 
	- After the download is complete, double-click the Omnissa-Horizon…exe file in your Downloads folder
 
	- If you are prompted to authenticate, enter your administrator user name (.\eIDx) and your administrator password
 
	- Click Yes
 
	- The Omnissa Horizon setup box will appear. Click Agree & Install
 
	- Once the install has completed, Omnissa Horizon will require a restart; click Restart Now
 
For the next steps, you must be connected to JMU's VPN Client.
	- Once the computer has restarted, launch the Omnissa Horizon Client
 
	- Click New Server 
 
	- In the dialog box, type it-conn1-vdi.ad.jmu.edu 
 
	- Click Connect
 
	- Enter your eID and Password
 
	- Click Login
 
Install the Omnissa Horizon Client and log in to VDI on a Mac computer
	- Go to JMU’s software downloads page and click Mac under the Omnissa Horizon Client option
 
	- Sign in with your eID and password. Save the file if prompted.
 
	- After the download is complete, double-click the Omnissa-Horizon…dmg file in your Downloads folder
 
	- Review the license agreement then click Agree
 
	- Drag the Omnissa Horizon Client icon into the Applications folder
 
	- If you are prompted to authenticate, enter your administrator user name (eIDx) and your administrator password
 
	- Click Authenticate
 
	- Enter your administrator user name (eIDx) and your administrator password
 
	- Click OK
 
For the next steps, you must be connected to JMU's VPN Client.
	- Double-click Omnissa Horizon Client.app in your Applications folder
 
	- If asked, “Are you sure you want to open it?” click Open
 
	- If prompted to Start remote USB and Printing services, click Continue
 
	- If prompted, enter your administrator user name (.\eIDx) and your administrator password again
 
	- Enter it-conn1-vdi.ad.jmu.edu as the name of the Connection Server
 
	- Click Connect
 
	- Enter your eID and Password
 
	- Click Login
 
 
Note: If you are unable to connect with offcampus.jmu.edu, please attempt to use it-conn1-vdi.ad.jmu.edu
