How to Recover Deleted Microsoft Teams Channel

Overview

This article will go over what to do in the event a Teams channel is deleted whether on purpose or by accident.

Troubleshooting/Resolution

In the event someone accidentally or purposely deletes a teams channel, it can be restored by a moderator/owner of the team.

  1. Open the Teams options menu by clicking the 3 horizontal dots that appears when hovering over it's name.
  2. Select Manage Team from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click the Channels tab 
  4. Click on Deleted under the list of active channels.
  5. Click the Restore button next to any channel you would like restored.
  6. Confirm restoration by clicking Restore one more time.

Be aware that this option is only available for 30 days after the initial deletion of a Channel. After that time, the Channel (or a complete Team) will need to be restored by JMU IT, and a request will need to be submitted through the IT Service Portal
