Steps to attempt to resolve why you are unable to log in to StarRez (the student housing portal)
- If you have recently paid a deposit after being accepted into the University, there is a time delay in which your account information is added into the Online Housing Portal (StarRez)
- If you are able to proceed past Okta authentication, but receives the error message "If you continue to experience log in issues, please contact the JMU Helpdesk: 540-568-3555 or email HelpDesk" this would typically mean that the account has not yet been created within StarRez, and will need to wait about 24 hours
- If you are not able to receive an Okta authentication prompt, and receive the error Incorrect username or password, check to see if you are using one of these characters that are not allowed in the StarRez password:
- " / \ [ ] : ; | = , + * ? < >
- Diacritic marks such as Ä ä, Ö ö, Ü ü
- If you have one of the above characters, log in to MyMadison.jmu.edu and change your password to remove the character
- If these steps do not resolve your issue, pleased contact the IT Help Desk to escalate the issue.
