Finding a message's folder location in Outlook (Windows 10)

Overview

Learn how to find an email's folder location.

Environment

Applies to Microsoft Outlook.

Troubleshooting/Resolution

 To find the location of an email:

  1. Double click on the message to open it in its own window.
  2. Open Advanced Find via the keyboard shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+F
  3. The Look in field will reveal the folder name.  
  4. Click on the Browse… button to show you where that message is residing in your folder hierarchy.
